소설 改寫 및 시국 隱喩 - 요시카와 에이지 『삼국지』의 전쟁관 시론
일본 대중 문학 작가 요시카와 에이지가 『삼국지연의』을 원본으로 개작한 『삼국지』는 중 일전쟁 시기에 등장했다. 작가는 삼국 이야기의 전반적인 프레임을 유지하면서 서사 방식에서부터 인물 이미지와 사상 및 문화에 이르기까지 두루 개작하였다. 9․18 事變 후, 요시카와 에이지는 일본 군부가 조직한 ‘十四日’에서 활약하였는데, 처음에는 신문사의 특파원 신분이었으나 그 이후 정부의 명령으로 ‘펜 부대(ペン部隊)’의 일원이 되어 시종일관 침략 전쟁의 ‘協力’ 역할을 도맡았다. 요시카와 에이지의 전쟁관은 그의 문학 창작에 이입되었고, 이러한 이입은 『삼국지』 속에서 크게 보아 두 방면에서 표출되고 있다. 하나는 疆土를 開擴하는 曹操에게 긍정적인 이미지를 재구성함으로써 일본의 대외적 팽창에 대한 정당성을 암시하는 것이고, 또 하나는 침략 전쟁이 天하는 합리적인 근거를 조작하기 위해 ‘왕화사명(王化使命)’ 론을 극력 선양하는 것이다. 소설 중에 나타나는 참혹한 전쟁에 시달리는 민중에 관한 묘사는 양심이 남아 있는 작가가 전쟁을 직접 목격한 후 인간성에서 표출된 보통 사람에 대한 약간의 동정과 연민일 뿐이었다. 사실상 작가는 소위 ‘왕화사명’이라는 것으로 전쟁에 깊이 빠져 있던 보통사람을 구하기를 갈망했다. 그러나 이 모든 환상이 일본의 패전으로 인하여 물거품이 되었고, 요시카와 에이지 본인도 문화 戰犯으로서 양심적 고문과 도덕적 가책을 겪게 되었다.
Novel Adaptation and Political Situation Metaphor-Analysis on View of War Reflected in Eiji Yoshikawa’s San Goku Shi
Eiji Yoshikawa, a modern Japanese popular literature writer, created historical novel San Goku Shi, which is the adaptation version of Romance of the Three Kingdoms, during Japanese war of aggression against China. From a frequenter of “Fortnight Community” organized by Japanese army after September 18th Incident, to a special correspondent of newspaper office, and then to a member of “literature troop” dispatched by the Japanese government, Eiji Yoshikawa’s support for the war synchronizes with the progress of the war and his view on war has been implanted in his novels. Specifically for San Goku Shi, his view on war is displayed by two aspects: the first is the rebuilding of Cao Cao’s image which implies the legitimacy of his aggression; the second is the promotion of the “royal mission” that “the cultivated shall civilize the barbarous”, which serves as the legal basis for the justification of the aggression war. However, all the fantasies are destroyed by Japan’s losing and Eiji Yoshikawa also descends into a culture war criminal, tortured by conscience and censured by morality.
