It is one of the weaponry, which implies the rich cultural meaning passed down from ancient times in Chinese literature. From a cultural background, Joseon was deeply influenced by Confucianism and it had its own new characteristics, but it closely related to China's Confucianism. Also, from the social background, both Xin Qiji and Zhang Wei are the ups and downs of life in the era of internal and external troubles. They expressed difficulty through the image of sword. Among the 600 works of current affairs of Xin Qiji, many of the weapons representing military images such as "sword, bow, knife" appear. Among them there are about 21 works referring to swords. There are about 50 works showing images of swords in Zhang Wei's poetry collection. The swords of two literati rooted in the same Confucian cultural tradition both represent ideals and achievements, thus expressing the feelings of depression and anger from reality, the setbacks in official career, and the ups and downs from a historical perspective. In addition, according to different historical backgrounds, ideological differences and aesthetic viewpoints, the treatment of swords is characterized by similarities and differences.
