광무제 시대 배경의 한국 고소설 <옥환기봉>의 서사적 의의 - 중국 TV사극 <수려강산지장가행>과의 비교를 중심으로 -
본고는 후한 광무제 시대를 배경으로 한 18세기 한국 고소설 <옥환기봉>과 21세기 중국 에서 제작된 TV사극 <수려강산지장가행>의 서사 및 인물형상을 비교함으로써, 궁극적으로 <옥환기봉>을 비롯한 조선 후기 중국 역사 배경 장편소설 작품들의 사회․문화적 의의를 살 피고자 한 것이다. 두 작품은 대체로 역사적 사실을 바탕으로 광무제의 한나라 부흥 여정을 다루는 한편, 황후 폐립의 과정에서 발생하는 광무제와 두 황후의 갈등은 작가의 상상력으로 만들어졌다. 또한 주인공인 음려화의 인물형상에는 창작 당대에 선호되는 여성상이 강하게 투 영된 데 비해, 곽성통은 대중의 공감을 얻을 수 있는 입체적인 인물로 재창조되었다는 공통점 을 발견할 수 있다. 본고는 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 <옥환기봉>의 창작과 서사적 의미 등을 현대 사극에 견주어 고찰하였다.
The epic significance of "Okhwan Gi-bong," a Korean old novel set in the Gwangmuje Period-Based on the comparison with the Chinese TV historical drama "秀 麗江山之長歌行(Singing All Along)"-
By comparing the narratives and characters of the 18th-century Korean old novel "Okhwan Gi-bong" and the 21st-century Chinese TV historical drama "秀 麗江山之長歌行(Singing All Along)" set in the era of Emperor Guangwu, the main aims to examine the social and cultural significance of works in late Joseon. The two works deal with the journey of Gwangmuje's revival of the Han Dynasty based on historical facts, while the conflict between Gwangmuje and the two empresses during the empress' closure was created by the artist's imagination. In addition, the figure of the main character, Yum Ryeo, was reflected in the female image preferred in the creative era, while Kwak Sung-tong was recreated as a three-dimensional figure that could win public sympathy. Based on these results, this study considered the creation and narrative meaning of "Okhwan Gi-bong" compared to modern historical dramas.
